D1 and M1
You should collect stills or short videos from your finished film and annotate how you applied the codes and conventions + representation of your chosen genres
In terms of codes, technical codes utilise a greyscale atmosphere where meaning is created by the colours which resemble a flashback. As well as this, the camerawork is in a medium wide angle, and the shot is stationary. The symbolic codes synergise with the technical codes whereby the symbolic code is the stalker's facial expression and body language which presents him as rather puzzled due to his face, and his hands in his pockets as body language where it acts as security over his unsettled look. Together the scene appears as though Abu has been put on the spot and has witnessed something strange. This is reinforced with the sinister backing track that kicks in as soon as the stalker's disconcerting expression initiates, which is non-diegetic and parallel sound used for emphasis.
The conventions in the scene are represented through the environment primarily- but also costuming. The stalker's costuming is in a hoodie with a hat, and is in rather dark attire as opposed to something light like white. This fits the conventions of an urban genre as commonly this is the type of clothes that secluded criminals wear, in order to conceal their identity and ensure protection. There is also a car and a generic street-kind of scenery which evokes conventionality where urban films take part in populated areas. This also doubles as representation where criminals (which the stalker is) are represented through concealing and protective attire and along with the cars representing the urban genre.
